With house price growth predicted to ease in 2016, there is now time to reflect on what a strong period our housing market experienced during 2015. Sydney suburbs primarily feature on the list of most expensive sold properties, with harbour views and spectacular views on offer.

Here is the full list –

  • 87-89 Wolseley Road, Point Piper, 2027 which sold for $39.9m. The property was sold in May to road construction developer Phillip Dong Fang Lee and his wife. The property’s prime hilltop position on 1900sqm offers views of the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the Northern side of Manly.
  • 24 Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill, 2023 which was sold by packing businessman Ken Allen and his wife Christine for $30m. The eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom heritage home was sold in November to an unidentified Chinese buyer. The estate is 4,260sqm of established grounds featuring a tennis court and resort swimming pool with views of Sydney Harbour.
  • 2 Bayview Hill Road, Rose Bay 2029 was sold in June to expatriate UK barrister Georgina Black, wife of UK property management company Telereal Trillium CEO Graham Edwards. The property sold for $27.08m and cascades over three levels with views of Rose Bay spanning to the Harbour Bridge.
  • 1A Loch Maree Place, Vaucluse 2030 was designed by leading Australian architect Michael Dysart with the home boasting stone floors and stained glass windows. The property sold to hotelier Jerry Schwartz and his wifr Debbie in July for $24m.
  • 39 Seacombe Grove, Brighton 3186 sold for $20m in May, setting a record for the suburb. With 18 rooms boasting 180-degree views sweeping from Brighton Pier to the Westgate Bridge, the property was once owned by St Kilda Football Club President Rod Butterss.
  • 52A The Crescent, Vaucluse 2030 was sold for 15.3m. Vendors Nick and Susie Kelly, founder of the clothing brand Industrie, sold this property in March to Deborah West, principal and buyers agent with Sydney Slice, on behalf of an undisclosed client. The home sits on a massive 1016sqm waterfront block with direct access to Kutti Beach.
  • 26 Cowdroy Avenue, Cammeray 2062 was the former home of Joanne Mineham, widow of former PricewaterhouseCoopers deputy CEO Leigh Mineham and boasts uninterupted harbour vistas. While the price remains undisclosed, the property was listed with a price guide of $13-15m.
  • 11 Wellington Street, Woollahra 2025 was previously owned by former diplomat and politician John Spender, and his fashion designed ex-wife Carla Zampatti. The five-bedroom Georgian era house dates back to 1880, but was redesigned by Professor Leslie Wilkinson (then owner) in the 1930s. The property sold for 13.1m.
  • 26 Billyard Avenue, Elizabeth Bay 2011 sold for 13m in August with the exact price remaining undisclosed. The 1860s home was redesigned by award winning architect William Smart, with gardens by William Dangar. All the major rooms open onto balconies, verandahs, terraces or level private gardens with views of Sydney Harbour.
  • 16 Castra Place, Double Bay was sold for 13m. The pavilion-style home features an infinity pool with views of Sydney Harbour.
