North Wollongong Beach was honoured with the Sydney Water award for water conservation in 2012, and was also among the highly commended finalists in the best overall beach category.
Meanwhile, City Beach was honoured with the NSW award in the friendly beach category, and was also recognised in the community partnerships and action award category.
