The latest statistics from the industry body revealed that in October 2012, the number of seasonally-adjusted new detached house sales increased by 4.7 per cent across the state of New South Wales – signalling a slight resurgence in buyer confidence.

HIA economist Harley Dale observed that the latest cut to the cash rate could provide further incentive for buyers to make a move.

The NSW figures were higher than the national average of 3.4 per cent, according to the HIA New Home Sales Report. Dr Dale said that while this is a “modest result”, it represents a step in the right direction.
