The Property Council of Australia surveyed office tenants across a broad range of businesses to understand the sentiments of tenants regarding their current office spaces and the office leasing market more generally.
Tenant sentiment about the office market was positive, though respondents recognised that there were difficulties in the market.
Property Council Executive Director Joe Lenzo noted, ‘this survey has confirmed that the Perth CBD will remain the central and most important office location. However, the fact that 30% of respondents did not believe being located in the CBD was important for their business indicates that suburban office demand, particularly in ‘activity centres’ will provide development opportunities.”
The prevalence of open plan offices was also made clear, with over 80% of respondents indicating that the office in which they worked featured either a mainly open plan or entirely open plan design.
Over 80% of respondents also revealed that their offices are not currently leased through a sublease contract, with approximately 20% currently subleasing some of their space.
